Laroy Battle has received a life sentence for the murder of two teenagers who inquired about his height while they were purchasing candy on the South Side of Chicago. He faced two charges of first-degree murder.

The hearing for his sentencing occurred this Thursday in Cook County.
Background:
On June 20, 2020, Battle, who was 19 at the time of the incident, shot at two teenagers in an alley located in the 7900-block of South Luella Avenue around 5 p.m.
After seeking permission from their mothers to buy candy, the two teens and a friend briefly interacted with Battle, who was a stranger to them, in a corner store. As the three teens were making their way home, two of them were shot multiple times in the alley.

Jasean Francis, 17, sustained gunshot wounds to his back, chest, and left hand and was transported to University of Chicago Hospital, where he passed away. Charles Riley, 16, was shot in the back and left leg and was also taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where he subsequently died.
