Let’s start this piece by congratulating Chief Keef for dropping Almighty So 2. The fans are getting a Sosa project in May, so it is right on time to have some anthems for the summer. Songs like “Treat Myself” have already begun to trend on the internet. The project has received a lot of positive feedback. A lot of people feel like Chief Keef is back to his old hit-making ways.

Chief Keef sat down for an extremely rare interview with Zane Lowe to promote Almighty So 2.

Now 29, Sosa discusses what it was like to blow up at 16 years old and how his life has changed since. Beautiful to see. pic.twitter.com/WfuPP9Sxmq
But an interview that Chicago Legend did with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe got us thinking. What if he did a press run for the project? If this was any other artist, this wouldn’t be such a big deal, but it being Chief Keef, a guy notorious for not doing interviews, or showing up to events he is booked for; it would be monumental if her did interviews. A lot has transpired since he took the rap game by storm in 2012. It has been multiple key hip-hop moments that relate to Sosa, and the fans would love to get his insight. The Zane Lowe interview clip teased us but still brought us joy because fans got to witness his growth and maturity.
Asking for a press run doesn’t mean just sitting him with traditional platforms. You know the Breakfast Club (We’ve seen how that went), Ebro in the Morning, No Jumper, Million Dollars Worth of Game, etc. These platforms are cool, but similar to record labels, they don’t know how to handle artists from Chicago. Which is not entirely their fight; let’s face it, it’s not a lot of Chicago people in positions at these media outlets to help execute the content efficiently. A perfect recent example is the Lil Durk interview with Gillie and Wallo. The Million Dollar Worth of Game Podcast received an exclusive interview. They pulled up to Chicago and got an opportunity to speak with Smurk with his homies present and failed to have a conversation the culture needed.
As mentioned before, it’s not their fault; they are two men from Philadelphia who only know about Lil Durk and his background from YouTube, and they see the news. It’s similar to how the media makes us believe Africa is not civilized and doesn’t have modern-day infrastructure. But yet, if you visit places like Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa, you’ll see that modern ways of living are no different from some cities in the United States.
Overall, as we continue the mission to Build The Crib, it’s important that we don’t attack or criticize media outlets from other markets on how they curate content with our hometown talents. We must use our platform to help educate and provide solutions that can benefit the culture. So below a pitch of some great interview opportunities for Chief Keef as he continue to promote the Almighty So 2 Project and tour.
WHATS THE WORD
Of course, he needs to sit with the home team. No Better Duo than Bree & Cody.
