THE VOTING RIGHTS ACT COULD BE IN TROUBLE

Does the Appeals Court Decision Undermines Voting Rights Act, and ‘Fails To Protect’ Black and Brown Voters?

Yesterday, An appellate court upheld a lower court’s ruling in a 2-1 decision that private citizens and groups cannot sue under a statute that forbids discrimination in state and local elections laws. This affects states such as Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota.
