A mother is outraged, says daycare worker had inappropriate relationship with her 10-year-old son at the Youth Life Center in Clayton County, Georgia.
Authorities and the Department of Family and Children Services are investigating the matter as Grace Shoyelu demands justice. The Youth Life Center responded to the news outlet’s request for comment, sharing that they fired the worker.
Shoyelu’s suspicions were initially triggered when she looked in her son’s phone and found that the daycare worker’s face adorned the screen for his wallpaper. But it was the content of the text messages that left her horrified. Messages exchanged between the worker and her young son hinted at a relationship that may have spanned weeks. “Her name was saved in his phone as ‘mommy,’ and there were a bunch of ‘I love yous’ and inappropriate inquiries asking “What are you wearing?” One message included a photo of the daycare worker wearing a short skirt—a picture wholly inappropriate for a 10-year-old. Shoyelu also mentions to WSB-TV that the worker had purchased clothes, shoes, and even a gold chain for her son.
“We can share that, upon learning of these allegations, we took immediate action by notifying the appropriate authorities and commencing an internal investigation,” explained the center. “While the criminal allegations remain under investigation by the authorities, we have terminated the employee for violations of standard operating procedures. We will continue to cooperate with authorities.”
The worker’s name hasn’t been released because she has yet to be charged, which is why Grace is outraged.
“Had it been a situation where it had been a little girl and a grown man, they would’ve locked him up on the spot with no questions until he was proven innocent,” said Shoyelu.
