A Chicago ice cream vendor is speaking out after a man, who is facing felony charges, shot him following an argument over the price of a $3 ice cream when the suspect said he only had $2.
Chicago man Paul Redd, 29, is facing felony charges of aggravated battery and assault with discharging a firearm at 67-year-old Jose Jimenez, according to ABC News.
It’s reported that Jimenez was selling ice cream last week when Redd and another suspect approached him about buying ice cream. He let the two be known that the ice cream he had left was $3, but Redd only said he had $2. After getting into an argument about the price, the two individuals walked away and once they came back, that’s when the gun was shown.
Jimenez was then shot in the leg and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
As police arrived on scene, Redd and the other suspect ran off into a nearby home where they were arrested after an hours-long standoff with SWAT in Chicago’s East Side neighborhood.
The judge ordered Redd to remain in custody because of his criminal history and it was not known if charges would be filed for the other suspect who was arrested.
