U.S. Rep. Al Green was escorted out of the State of the Union address after holding up a sign reading “Black people aren’t apes.” The protest was meant to challenge a controversial social media video tied to Donald Trump, which showed racist depictions of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.

Security removed Green from the chamber as the speech continued. This marks the second consecutive year he has been removed from a major presidential address after similar disruptions last year.
