Kendrick Lamar has been quiet since the whole “rap beef” with Drake, but it doesn’t mean he took a break from music.
The 2024 season kicked off is today and the NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music all revealed that Lamar will perform for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime show at the midfield at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome on February 9, 2025.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Lamar said in a statement. “They got the right one.”
Lamar previously performed at the hip-hop heavy 2022 halftime show starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and more.
Creative direction for Lamar’s upcoming performance will be provided by pgLang, the creative company founded by the rap star and his close collaborator Dave Free, the filmmaker and producer who has directed or co-directed the majority of Lamar’s music videos.
According to Billboard, Jay-Z gave a statement on Lamar headlining the upcoming show. “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” JAY-Z said in a statement. “His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
Of course fans speculate that “Not Like Us” will be apart of his performance. What other songs do you hear should perform?
