President-elect Donald Trump confirms that on the Day 1 of his presidency, he will declare a national emergency and utilize the U.S. military to conduct mass deportations of migrants living in America without legal permission.
Trump confirmed his stance in response to a post by Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch, who suggested that the incoming administration would utilize “military assets” for deportation efforts. Trump replied with “TRUE!!!” and promised to initiate deportations immediately upon taking office.
“On Day 1, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out,” Trump declared during a campaign rally at Madison Square Garden. He added, “We will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible.”
Former Acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan has been appointed as the “Border Czar,” while South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is set to be the Homeland Security Secretary, pending Senate confirmation. According to ABC News, approximately 11 million unauthorized migrants are currently living in the U.S. without legal immigration status.
