3 KILLED AT GATHERING IN CHICAGO’S GAGE PARK NEIGHBORHOOD

A total of eight people were shot, three fatally, on Monday afternoon in the Gage Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side, authorities said.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting at around 2:10 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found that eight individuals—four men and four women, all of Hispanic descent—had been shot.

According to NBC Chicago, six victims were transported to area hospitals, while two individuals went to the hospital on their own. Chicago police reported that three of the men who were shot died from their injuries.

All eight victims range in age between 20 and 35 years old.

Chicago police said the shooting occurred during a “social gathering,” but specifics regarding what let up to the shooting weren’t clear. Information on potential suspects wasn’t available in the hours immediately following the shooting.

Footage from the scene started to circulate social media where neighbors already reported that a group of Venezuelans were having a party.
