According a study published in the American Journal of Public Health, 45%-75% sex workers will experience violence at some point of their careers.

Sex Worker Advisory Group (SWAG) have been advocating this bill for three years.
They believe it will create safer conditions and reduce violence.

According to WBEZChicago, Brian Johnson, CEO of Equality Illinois said, “The threat of arrest and prosecution keeps sex workers unsafe and in the shadows, and this threat must be eliminated”.
The bill would remove criminal penalties for adults engaging in consensual sex work, arrest and conviction records for sex workers, and establish a sex workers’ bill of rights.

According to Brian Johnson, the bill will be formally introduced this week by its sponsors.
