NEW YORK WOMAN REFUSES TO LEAVE PAKISTAN AFTER FAILED MARRIAGE TO A NINETEEN YEAR OLD

Onijah Robinson, a 33-year-old from the New York, traveled to Pakistan to marry a 19-year-old she had only recently met online. Her plans fell apart, leaving her stranded. She arrived in Karachi, Pakistan, to wed Nidal Ahmed Memon in October. However, after his family intervened to stop their marriage, Robinson found herself with nowhere to go.

As reported by Black Enterprise, she attempted to go to Memon’s family home, but it appeared vacant and locked, as the family had evacuated the area. Instead of trying to leave Pakistan, Robinson held a sit-in outside the house, generating headlines across South Asia.

In several viral videos, she mentioned that she intended to go to Dubai with her “husband” while asserting that she was still trying to locate him. After facing difficulties in getting her to comply, the Pakistani authorities placed Robinson in a psychiatric unit at Karachi’s Jinnah Post Graduate Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Additionally, her son revealed that she faces mental health challenges amid efforts to bring her back home. He described her as “mentally unstable” with poor judgment, which has contributed to this ongoing situation in Pakistan. He and his brother had arrangements to bring her back, including a purchased flight ticket. Nonetheless, Robinson declined to get on the plane, causing further delays. In a recent video message, she acknowledged her financial difficulties. She has now indicated her willingness to return to the United States finally.
