The 21-year-old individual was apprehended on two charges of first-degree murder the day following the double homicide.

In February 2025, the now 26-year-old individual admitted guilt to a murder charge and received a sentence of 50 years in prison, receiving credit for the 1,619 days already served.

Authorities stated that Romel Tyson had been released from prison shortly before the fatal stabbing occurred.
