A woman and her two children were injured in a car crash with a stolen U.S. Postal Service truck driven by a suspect who allegedly also stole a police squad car Wednesday in the southwest suburbs.

A man stole a Bedford Park police squad car before hijacking a United States Postal Service truck and crashing into a family of three, officials said.
According to ABC News, approximately 2:45 p.m., Bedford Park police received a service call in the 6800 block of South Archer Road. Upon arrival, officers encountered a suspect, who is already known to law enforcement, taking control of a police vehicle. The suspect then drove the squad car to the intersection of 97th Place and Avon Avenue in Chicago Ridge, where the vehicle either became stuck or disabled.

After the vehicular hijacking, the suspect drove northbound on Roberts Road and collided with a vehicle occupied by a family of three, including a mother and her two children, ages 4 and 7, according to Bridgeview police.
All three were transported to different hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately clear.

The suspect is in police custody, but has not yet been named.
