Every year spring break gets a little crazier. This year a teen was arrested during a Spring Break trip in Fort Myers after video footage allegedly captured him biting off a significant part of another teen’s ear.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says that 18-year-old Jack Turner was arrested and faces felony battery charges following the brawl that took place with him and Juwan Black at Fort Myers Beach on St. Patrick’s Day.
According to the report, Black and Turner knew each other and crossed paths while walking on the beach. An eyewitness, who was with Black at the time, claimed Turner began hurling racial slurs at Black before striking him from behind. The witness felt that Turner harbored animosity toward Black because he is a Black gay male.
The footage then showed Turner grabbing the victim by the hair on the back of his head, pressing it in the sand, according to the report.
Reportedly, Turner pulled Black’s head up once more and bit into his ear, leaving it nearly detached. Black suffered a “traumatic auricular amputation,” according to reports.
Turner was arrested and charged with felony battery. He has since posted a $50,000 bond.
