TWO-YEAR-OLD BOY DIES AT ILLINOIS DAYCARE FROM NEGLIGENCE

The heartbreaking story of Jaylin Branch Jr., a bright 2-year-old who tragically passed away on February 20, 2025, following a medical emergency at Grandma Jones Daycare in Calumet City, has led his family to take legal action against the facility. They are alleging negligence, expressing deep concern that the daycare staff failed to provide adequate supervision for Jaylin, despite knowing about his medical condition. In addition to the lawsuit, the family is also seeking a state investigation into the daycare to ensure that no other families have to endure such a devastating loss.

According to CBS News, the complaint states, “Jaylin was placed down for his daily nap around noon after lunch. The lawsuit alleges that the staff failed to check on him periodically, despite an established medical action plan, and did not take the necessary precautions to ensure his safety. It further claims that employees were inadequately trained to respond to medical emergencies.” The complaint also asserts, “As a direct result of the daycare’s negligence, Jaylin suffered injuries that ultimately led to his death.”
