Lil Durk has recently taken important steps to have the murder-for-hire charges against him dismissed. He claims that prosecutors may have misled the grand jury by trying to connect his music to the case. His legal team, representing Durk Banks, has expressed serious concerns about what they call a “fundamental factual error.” They believe that the song he released, which criticizes rival rapper Quando Rondo, has been inappropriately linked to a tragic incident that occurred in Los Angeles in August 2022.

Durk’s attorneys stated in a legal document that the track was recorded seven months before the incident involving the masked gunman targeting Quando Rondo.
In court, prosecutors argued that although the lyrics were written seven months prior to the shooting incident, the song had been altered. It now included audio from television news coverage in which Quando Rondo expressed his distress by saying “No, no!” in reference to his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson. This audio was layered over the original track.

Conversely, Durk’s attorneys defended their client by stating that the version of the song discussed in court was not authentic. They contended that the prosecutors referenced versions of the song available on YouTube, which they claimed were not affiliated with Durk.
