Chicago rapper Mello Buckzz is breaking her silence following a devastating drive-by shooting that left 18 people injured—four of them fatally. Among those wounded were her boyfriend and best friend, making the tragedy deeply personal for the rising star.
In an emotional statement posted to her Instagram, Mello revealed that the victims weren’t strangers—they were “friends, family, creatives, significant others, and people who’ve been by my side throughout this entire journey.”
She noted that the majority of those shot were women, describing the incident as “tragic” and expressing heartbreak over the lives lost and the trauma inflicted. “My heart aches for those healing from both physical and emotional wounds, as well as for the spaces and spirits that may never be the same,” she wrote.
The rapper ended her message by calling for continued prayers and support for the victims’ families, underscoring the deep impact the shooting has had on her and her community.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
