Chicago is in for a powerful, purpose-filled celebration this summer.
On Saturday, July 26, 2025, the IBUKUN Hip Hop Art & Culture Festival will take over the Zhou B Art Center (1029 W. 35th Street, Chicago) from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. This all-day event isn’t just about good music and vibes — it’s about healing, representation, and investing in mental wellness for Chicago’s underserved communities.
Hosted by IBUKUN Comprehensive Community Services, the festival will raise funds to expand mental health services for youth and families across the city.

A MULTI-SENSORY EXPERIENCE UPLIFTING BLACK CULTURE
The IBUKUN Fest isn’t your average summer event. It’s been curated to honor the depth and brilliance of Black expression — blending music, fashion, art, and wellness into one immersive experience.

🎤 Live Performances
A stacked lineup of Chicago’s rising musical talent will hit the stage, including:
Asha Omega IAmGawd J Bambii Philmore Greene Rapsody — the Grammy-winning headliner and one of hip hop’s most impactful lyricists.
🧠 Panel Discussion on Mental Health & Identity
Moderated by relationship expert Love McPherson, this panel will feature dynamic voices exploring the intersections of art, identity, and emotional wellness:
Dr. Pamela Blackman, CEO of BBF Center for the Arts Ta’Rhonda Jones, actress & musician Cynthia McWilliams, actress Dr. Obari Cartman, psychologist & cultural thought leader Dr. Elaine Smith, psychotherapist
🎬 Celebrity Hosts
Hosting duties will be held down by actor Wood Harris and actress Cynthia McWilliams, keeping the energy high and crowd engaged throughout the day.
🎨 Black Art Gallery
Curated by Starving Artists, this gallery will spotlight stunning works from emerging Black visual artists exploring themes of identity, resistance, and Black joy.
🛍️ Marketplace & Fashion Showcase
Local Black-owned businesses, artisans, and fashion designers will take center stage, offering attendees a space to shop and support the culture.
MORE THAN A FESTIVAL — IT’S A MOVEMENT
All proceeds from the festival go directly to IBUKUN Comprehensive Community Services, a nonprofit based in Englewood. The organization, founded by the late Dr. Christian Adeyemi Akiwowo, offers culturally relevant mental health services to Black youth and families across Chicago.
IBUKUN’s mission is deeply rooted in justice, creativity, and healing — and this festival brings that mission to life.
