CHICAGO MAN ACCUSED OF BANK ROBBERY LEFT HIS ADDRESS BEHIND

You can’t make this up.

Federal prosecutors say 34-year-old Janares Harrison walked into the U.S. Bank at 815 W. 63rd Street on July 8 and tried to pull off a robbery — but the note he handed over basically gave him away.

According to the feds, Harrison slid the branch manager a brown envelope with the words “Fill the envelop. I’m robbing you” scribbled on the back. He pressed her for “big bills” and left with $608, only to come back moments later asking about his envelope. She pretended she lost it.

That “lost” envelope ended up being the smoking gun. Investigators noticed the clear plastic window on the front showed a piece of mail — with an address tied to Harrison’s family home on South Sangamon Street. From there, FBI agents compared the bank’s surveillance footage to Harrison’s own Facebook photos, pointing out the same build, beard, and even a flashy gold watch the robber wore.

Harrison was picked up on August 12 on an unrelated warrant. He admitted he stays at the Sangamon property and owns the watch — but he swears he didn’t do the robbery 【Chicago Tribune】.
