A quiet night in Chicago’s upscale Gold Coast neighborhood was shattered early Friday morning after a drive-by shooting left four people wounded. The incident happened around 3:48 a.m. on the 1100 block of North Dearborn Avenue.
According to CBS News, a gray Acura sedan pulled up and someone inside opened fire toward a group of people standing on the sidewalk. The car then sped away heading south on Dearborn.
Four people were hit during the gunfire — a 22-year-old woman shot in the leg, a 60-year-old man shot in the thigh, a 45-year-old man shot in the foot, and a 24-year-old man who was struck in the arm and took himself to the hospital. All four victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and are reported to be in good condition.
Police quickly flooded the area, setting up a large crime scene as investigators collected shell casings and surveillance footage. CTA bus service was briefly affected while the investigation took place.
No suspects are currently in custody, and detectives from Area Three are handling the case. The motive behind the shooting is still unclear.
