Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has launched the ICE Accountability Project, a new initiative to document the actions of federal immigration agents in Chicago and across Illinois.
According to Fox 32 Chicago, the project will gather reports on alleged misconduct by ICE and CBP agents during operations like Operation Midway Blitz, which targeted undocumented immigrants with criminal records.
Lightfoot said the effort is about transparency, not doxxing, and aims to track agents’ behavior, tactics, and vehicles — not reveal personal identities.
“We have a right to document what’s happening,” Lightfoot said.
Supporters say the project promotes accountability, while critics warn it could heighten tensions with federal agencies.
