The Washington Commanders were already getting embarrassed on national TV — down 38-7 to the Seattle Seahawks — when things took an even darker turn.
In the fourth quarter, quarterback Jayden Daniels was still in the game, scrambling for yards when he was spun around on a tackle and landed awkwardly on his left, non-throwing arm. The hit caused what appeared to be a graphic elbow injury, leaving players and fans in shock.
Teammates immediately surrounded Daniels as trainers rushed onto the field. A temporary cast was placed on his arm, and though a cart came out, Daniels chose to walk off under his own power, heading straight to the locker room.
ANOTHER SETBACK IN A TOUGH SEASON
This marks yet another injury for Daniels, who had already missed games earlier this season due to knee and hamstring issues. Coming off a Rookie of the Year campaign in which he led Washington to a 12-5 record and a playoff berth, Daniels’ sophomore season has been anything but magical.
Head coach Dan Quinn is already facing criticism for keeping his franchise QB on the field late in a game that was well out of reach. With less than eight minutes remaining and the Commanders trailing big, many are questioning the decision that may have cost the team its most valuable player.
COMMANDERS’ LUCK RUNNING OUT
After riding high last year, the Commanders entered Sunday’s matchup with five losses and have looked far from their 2024 form. By halftime, the scoreboard read 31-7 — and the vibes in D.C. have only gotten worse since.
Now, with Daniels’ status uncertain, Washington’s season — and possibly its future — hangs in the balance.
