Chicago’s film community is getting a major leadership moment. The TRiiBE reports that Creative Cypher — the Chicago collective of independent and professional filmmakers launched in 2014 by founder and chairman Troy Pryor — has appointed South Side native Cindy Beasley as the organization’s new president.
At 31, Beasley steps into the role as Creative Cypher’s first Black woman president, bringing nearly a decade of experience across production and operations. Her background includes production work with major entertainment and media brands, along with leadership experience in Chicago’s independent scene, including work with WHATS THE WORD TV and Awe Luv Media, according to The TRiiBE.
“Creative Cypher is building the next generation of creatives and entertainment thought leaders, and with structure and soul I look forward to leading the way. We will continue to set the bar higher as Chicago’s top entertainment ecosystem.”— Cindy Beasley, via Creative Cypher
Creative Cypher says Beasley’s appointment signals “an era of elevation” as the organization continues building pathways for creators and proving Chicago can be a destination — not just a stepping stone — for film and TV careers. Read the official announcement from Creative Cypher here.
