DERRICK ROSE DELIVERS EMOTIONAL SURPRISE TO FAN FIGHTING CANCER

Chicago basketball legend Derrick Rose recently created an unforgettable experience for 15-year-old Delvin McGee, a freshman at Simeon Career Academy and a devoted Bulls fan who has been battling stage-2 lymphoma. Delvin’s illness has kept him off the basketball court, making this surprise even more meaningful.

The emotional moment unfolded at Advocate Children’s Hospital, where Rose personally visited Delvin, along with Simeon Coach Tim Flowers. The former MVP spent time talking with him, sharing encouragement, and watching as Delvin took a few shots — his first time back on the court in months. For a young athlete sidelined by cancer, this was a chance to reconnect with the game he loves and feel inspired once again.

The surprises didn’t stop there. According to CBS News, Rose and the Bulls organization gifted Delvin and his family an all-expense-paid trip to Brooklyn to attend the Bulls-Nets game in person, giving them a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a chance to create lasting memories together.

For Delvin, the day was more than just basketball — it was a reminder of hope, resilience, and the support of a community that cares. Derrick Rose’s actions show that his impact extends far beyond the court, inspiring fans both young and old.
