CHICAGO RAPPER ADAMN KILLA CLAIMS “DISCRIMINATION” AFTER BEING BANNED FROM MULTIPLE ILLINOIS MALLS

CHICAGO- Chicago-based rapper Adamn Killa recently took to social media to express his frustration after being barred from entering several shopping centers in his home state. He claims to have been banned from a total of five malls, including some he had never even stepped foot in before.

In a recent video posted to the rapper’s socials , the rapper visited the North Riverside Park Mall in Riverside, Illinois, for the first time.

Upon arrival, he found police and security stationed at every door. He was stopped at the entrance and not permitted to enter the mall.

“ I just want to know why all these malls are treating me like a criminal, when all I do is bring people there that shop, and boost the economy,” Adamn Killa states in video.

This statement comes after rapper Adamn Killa has called his fans to malls in Illinois that have not had as much business and have fan “meet ups” and those malls.

His recent success at this was at River Oaks Mall.

“Just shut down the mall like the early 2000s..,” states his Instagram post after recent “takeover” .

The rapper argues that the malls are unfairly targeting him despite the positive impact he believes he has on the local economy.

He asserts that his presence attracts fans who “shop and boost the economy” through their spending and defends his followers, stating they are always respectful and peaceful when at the malls or interacting with him and asking for photos.

2nd Ward Alderwoman, Monet S. Wilson shouted out the rapper saying, “I just want to say thank you for supporting Calumet City and showing our River Oaks Mall some love,” on Instagram.

The people who support the rapper disagree with the way the malls have been handling his presence at their establishments:

In the comments of his recent video, a user commented, “This is great commentary on the death of community and the disappearance of third spaces.”

Frustrated by what he calls “discrimination” in his own city, he suggests that this type of treatment is what forces successful artists to move to hubs like Los Angeles or Miami.

“To be honest, this is the only city I’ve ever been treated like this,” the artist states at the end of the video.

What’s the Word community? Should local establishments, and malls embrace rappers when they aim to produce positive economic impacts, or is the “takeover” culture too much for these spaces to handle?
