A frightening accident occurred Tuesday morning at Middle College High School in Midtown Memphis, Tennessee, when a truck crashed into the school cafeteria after its brakes reportedly failed. The incident happened around 8:30 a.m., just as students were arriving for the day.
According to Fox 13, the driver — who had just dropped off a child — experienced mechanical failure and was unable to stop the vehicle. In an effort to avoid hitting other cars, the truck plowed into the cafeteria window, causing significant property damage.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, securing the scene and helping students and staff evacuate safely. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported. Some students were treated for minor injuries or shock, but the quick actions of school staff and first responders prevented a much worse outcome.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the brake failure and working with the school to ensure the building is safe before classes resume. Parents and community members have expressed relief that everyone is safe and are praising the quick response of school personnel.
