DERRICK ROSE TO BE PART OF THE 1901 PROJECT’ ON CHICAGO’S WEST SIDE

Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose is taking his impact off the court and into Chicago’s neighborhoods. During a recent Forbes interview, Rose announced his involvement in the $7 billion “1901 Project”, a massive mix-use development on the city’s West Side aimed at bringing new life, jobs, and opportunities to the community.

Derrick Rose spoke on the business side of things he’s growing, which includes a construction company, owning shares in Coco5, a Chicago-based sports-hydration company, a real estate development firm, and Freestyle Chess. He revealed that he will be involved in the 1901 Project.

“We’re working on the 1901 project. The 1901 project is the project in Chicago where they’re building up the west side of Chicago. They putting $7 billion into the project, and it’s probably the biggest project there since the World Fair,” added D-Rose, who plans to be in the construction business for the long run.

The 1901 Project will combine residential, commercial, and entertainment spaces, creating a dynamic hub for residents and visitors alike. Rose emphasized that his goal is to invest in Chicago’s neighborhoods and help revitalize areas that have long been overlooked.

Although the project is still in its early stages, plans indicate it will include retail spaces, apartments, office buildings, and entertainment venues, making it one of the largest developments in the city in recent years.

For Derrick Rose, the 1901 Project represents more than just a business venture—it’s an opportunity to give back to his hometown and help shape the future of Chicago’s West Side.
