The future of Soldier Field is taking center stage as the Chicago Park District looks ahead to what could be life after the Chicago Bears.

According to a report from CBS Chicago, Park District officials are moving forward with proposals aimed at keeping the historic lakefront stadium active and profitable — regardless of whether the Bears remain long term.

The team has been exploring options for a new stadium site, sparking ongoing speculation about a potential move. In response, park officials say they are preparing for multiple outcomes and developing a broader vision for Soldier Field’s future.

Plans under consideration reportedly include expanding the venue’s use beyond NFL games to include more concerts, large-scale sporting events, festivals, and community programming. This transformation could cost about $630 million. Leaders say the goal is to ensure the stadium remains a key economic driver and entertainment hub along Chicago’s Museum Campus.

Soldier Field, one of the NFL’s oldest stadiums, has been a Chicago landmark for decades. But with stadium negotiations and redevelopment discussions continuing, city officials appear determined to position the venue for long-term sustainability.

No final decisions have been announced, and discussions about the Bears’ future remain ongoing. For now, the message from the Park District is clear: planning is already underway for the next chapter at Soldier Field.
