TEEN RIDING SCOOTER KILLED IN CHICAGO HIT-AND-RUN CRASH

A 15-year-old girl has been identified as Violet D. Harris, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday evening in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, according to CBS Chicago.

According to police, the crash happened around 8:34 p.m. Saturday in the 2800-block of East 77th Street. Authorities said Violet was riding a scooter when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Officials also reported that a 13-year-old girl was injured in the crash. She was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed in good condition, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, Violet later died from her injuries. The driver involved did not stop to render aid and remains at large as investigators work to identify the vehicle responsible.

Police continue to search for the suspect and are reviewing surveillance footage from the area. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the driver is urged to contact authorities.

The tragic incident has left the South Shore community mourning the loss of a young life, as family members and residents seek answers and justice.
