CHICAGO MOTHER OF FOUR KILLED WHILE PICKING UP BROTHER FROM SCHOOL

The family of a young Chicago mother is mourning after 26-year-old Krystal Cruz was shot and killed while picking up her teenage brother from school in the city’s Back of the Yards neighborhood.

According to Fox 32 Chicago, the tragic shooting happened Tuesday afternoon as Cruz was driving in the area after getting her younger brother from school. Gunfire suddenly erupted near the vehicle, striking Cruz and causing panic throughout the neighborhood. Emergency crews responded to the scene and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Cruz’s death has left her family devastated, especially her four young daughters, who range in age from 6 to 10 years old. Her grandmother shared that Cruz was a dedicated and loving mother who worked hard every day to care for her children and keep her family together. Neighbors and community members gathered near the scene following the shooting, leaving flowers, candles, and balloons in memory of the young mother.
