A tragic act of gun violence claimed the lives of two men and left a woman fighting for her life following a drive-by shooting early Saturday morning in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, the shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Hermitage Avenue. Authorities say a 26-year-old woman, a 30-year-old man, and a 31-year-old man were standing outside a residence when a white SUV approached the area.
Investigators report that someone inside the vehicle opened fire on the group before speeding away northbound on Hermitage Avenue.
All three victims suffered gunshot wounds and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. The two male victims, ages 30 and 31, later succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead. The 26-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Police have not released the identities of the deceased, and officials have not yet determined a motive behind the attack.
