Authorities announced Thursday that 23-year-old Andrea Shaw was arrested on June 30 in connection with the 2025 deaths of her son and daughter. Prosecutors allege Shaw intentionally suffocated both children around May 1, 2025.
As of Thursday, Shaw had not entered a plea. Her attorney, Joseph Filicetti, described the prosecution’s case as “weak” and said he plans to request bail during her next court appearance on July 14.
“She is the most humble and quiet person I know,” Filicetti told reporters.
Following her children’s deaths, Shaw repeatedly claimed—without evidence—that routine childhood vaccines caused them to die. She shared those allegations during a podcast hosted by Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine organization known for promoting claims that have been widely disputed by the medical community.

Medical experts and major health organizations continue to state that routine childhood vaccines have been extensively researched, are considered safe, and remain an important part of preventing serious diseases.
Shaw is also listed as a plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by Children’s Health Defense against the American Academy of Pediatrics, which maintains that childhood immunizations are both safe and effective.
Children’s Health Defense, formerly chaired by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. before he stepped away from the organization in 2024, has faced widespread criticism from medical professionals for promoting vaccine misinformation.
The criminal case remains ongoing as investigators and prosecutors continue to pursue the charges against Shaw.
