A teenager who disappeared four years ago after leaving the Chicago area has been found alive in Virginia, bringing a heartbreaking case to a stunning conclusion.
Joniah Walker, now 19, vanished in June 2022 after investigators say she traveled to Chicago to meet a man she had been communicating with online for years. Authorities allege 37-year-old Owen Anderson lured Walker to meet him after first making contact with her on Facebook when she was just 12 years old.
According to investigators, Anderson arranged transportation for Walker before allegedly taking her to his home in Blacksburg, Virginia, where she was held captive for nearly four years. Police say she endured physical, sexual, and emotional abuse during that time and was prevented from attending school or contacting her family.
Walker was finally located after authorities responded to a domestic disturbance at the Virginia residence. Investigators say she later identified herself, leading to the discovery that she was the missing teenager who had been the subject of a years-long search.
