A 21-year-old Chicago man is facing first-degree murder charges after police say he was connected to the deaths of two young women in separate shootings on the city’s Southeast Side, according to WGN News.
Authorities identified the suspect as Anthony Nunnally, who has been charged in the killings of 17-year-old Gabriela Arellano and 19-year-old Sierra Evans. Investigators say the two cases happened nearly a year apart in Chicago’s East Side neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, Arellano was found fatally shot in an alley in the 11000 block of South Mackinaw Avenue in October 2025. The teenager’s death sparked an investigation as detectives worked to determine who was responsible.
Police say Evans was also killed in a separate shooting in September 2024. Officers found the 19-year-old suffering from fatal gunshot wounds in the 9500 block of South Avenue N.
Investigators later identified Nunnally as a suspect in both cases. Police said he was taken into custody Monday and was already being held at the Cook County Jail on unrelated felony charges.
The charges come as both families continue to search for answers and justice for their loved ones. The deaths of the two young women have left their families and the Southeast Side community mourning.
Detectives credited investigative work and evidence gathered during the cases for helping identify a suspect. Prosecutors will now move forward with the legal process as Nunnally faces two counts of first-degree murder.
