Three people were shot, including one person who was killed, while driving on Chicago’s South Side early Thursday morning, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

It’s reported that the shooting happened around 3:02 a.m. near 71st Street and Champlain Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.
Chicago Police said two men and a woman were traveling in a white sedan when a white SUV pulled alongside the vehicle. Someone that was inside the SUV opened fire, striking all three people inside the sedan.
A 54-year-old man was shot in the head and back. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
A 48-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was also taken to the hospital. A 45-year-old man was shot in the leg.

The two surviving victims were hospitalized and listed in good condition, according to authorities.
The shooting adds to ongoing concerns about gun violence on Chicago’s South Side, where police continue to investigate shootings involving people traveling in vehicles.
Detectives with the Chicago Police Department’s Area One team are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what may have led to the gunfire and whether the victims were specifically targeted.
As of Thursday, police had not announced any arrests in connection with the shooting.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or have information about the vehicle involved to come forward. Investigators are also expected to review surveillance footage from the area as they work to identify the shooter or shooters.
The investigation remains active, and additional details about the victim who was killed and the circumstances surrounding the tragic attack may be released as authorities continue their work.
