The friends’ fathers filed the federal lawsuit on October 5.
The complaint challenges Owens’ arrest demand and a linked video alleging the friends’ involvement in Wells’ death.
Wells’ family disputes the grand jury’s findings.
Three friends of Nolan Wells are suing NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens over allegations circulated online following Wells’ death, according to the Associated Press.
The lawsuit alleges Owens defamed them by posting “ARREST THEM IMMEDIATELY!!” on X and linking to a video accusing them of killing Wells and tampering with his phone. AP received no immediate response from Owens. (news4jax.com)
Wells disappeared during a July 4 trip to Mississippi’s Horn Island and was found dead two days later. Although the grand jury described his death as “consistent with drowning,” AP reported that state and independent autopsies did not establish a cause. (news4jax.com)
