OWN’s health initiative, OWN Your Health, is teaming up with the American Cancer Society’s VOICES of Black Women campaign to drive groundbreaking cancer research for Black women. This partnership seeks to enroll 100,000 Black women (ages 25-55) in a study designed to uncover critical insights into cancer risks, prevention, and survivorship.
“We are honored to support this mission and amplify its impact through OWN’s vast reach,” said Tina Perry, President of OWN. The collaboration will leverage on-air programming, social media, and digital outreach to encourage participation in the study.
Despite advancements in cancer research, Black women still face the highest cancer death rates in the U.S.. Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, interim CEO of the American Cancer Society, emphasized that listening to Black women’s lived experiences is key to developing tailored health solutions.
OWN has launched a dedicated page at OWN.tv/Voices, offering information on how to join the VOICES study. This initiative aligns with OWN Your Health’s commitment to empowering Black women with resources, education, and community support for better health outcomes.
