CHICAGO DIRKEN’S FEDERAL BUILDING ON LOCKDOWN AFTER ARMED MAN THREATENED HIMSELF

The Dirksen Federal Building in downtown Chicago was placed on lockdown Monday morning after an armed man reportedly entered the lobby with a knife and made threats of self-harm.

The incident occurred just after 11 a.m., prompting a large law enforcement response from the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Chicago Police, and Homeland Security. Staff and visitors were evacuated, and nearby streets were shut down as a precaution.

Officials confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident. The man was taken into custody without further incident, and the FBI has launched an investigation into the matter.

The Dirksen Building, located at 219 S. Dearborn Street, houses several federal courts and agencies. Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity or motive.
