Chicago is getting ready to turn up for culture, community, and celebration as 1865 Fest returns to Garfield Park for a 2-day Juneteenth experience on June 19-20, 2026. The festival is built around four pillars — Culture, Community, Celebration, and Legacy — and organizers are making it clear this is bigger than just another summer event.
According to the festival graphics, attendees can expect over 50 Black-owned vendors, 25+ artists and entertainers, six festival zones, live music, food, wellness experiences, kids activities, giveaways, and community resources all packed into one weekend on the West Side.
Day one will focus on Youth & Family Day with games and family-friendly activities throughout the park, while day two will celebrate and honor the legacy of the late Chicago artist Lord Haiti. Organizers are positioning the second day as both a cultural celebration and tribute moment recognizing his impact on the city and community.
The event also continues to spotlight Black culture and freedom history, honoring 161 years since Juneteenth in a way that blends education, entertainment, and community impact right in the heart of Chicago.
Organizers are encouraging the city to mark their calendars and tap in with the movement ahead of Juneteenth weekend.
