Alderman Raymond Lopez (15th) says that he is removing all “dibs” items from parking spots in the ward after receiving high complaints.
In the post, Alderman Lopez states: “We are clearing those blocks with the highest dibs complaints today & will push forward with the entire ward throughout the week. Now is your chance to take back your baby strollers & buckets before I consign them to their final resting place.”
This has caused a bit of a divide on social media with some people expressing joy with Lopez’s actions and others saying it isn’t fair to those who have shoveled out their spots only to have them taken.
This move also is cutting into a long-time Chicago tradition that was recently explained by Chicago Historian, Shermann Dilla Thomas.
Do you think that this move is fair or nah?
