Last week, a 4-year-old kindergartener named Stone Hicks, who is battling end-stage kidney disease, fulfilled his dream of becoming a police officer for a day thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Orlando Police Department. Dressed in a police uniform, Stone made his first two “arrests” and stopped imaginary “bad guys” while on duty.
The dream came true for the ‘Paw Patrol’ fan on April 24, with Stone, shining in his immaculate new uniform, being sworn in as cop by the police chief in an auditorium full of cheering fans. Stone demonstrated remarkable bravery and professionalism by tackling two urgent calls with ease. He successfully retrieved a stolen puppy and returned it to its rightful owner, apprehending the “thief” and bringing him to justice. Stone then proceeded to arrest a suspect who had allegedly stolen a retired jersey of a former Orlando City Soccer star. With the help of a police officer, he handcuffed the suspect and fulfilled his duty as a police officer. The onlookers, which included Stone’s family, were proud of him for exhibiting his passion and dedication to serving his community.
Orlando Police stated: “Stone, thank YOU for your courage, not only in helping us today solve crime, but also being an inspiration to the entire community.”
