Two women were killed, and three children were critically hurt after a mass shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood 4th of July morning.

Earlier this morning on the block of 71st Woodlawn, two cars pulled up and several people got out and started shooting at a home. Shell casings from a handgun and a rifle were found at the scene, according to the police.
The victims have been identified by family members as 24-year-old Capri Edwards and 42-year-old Nakeeshia Strong, along with three boys aged 5, 7, and 8. All of them suffered gunshot wounds and were given first aid by the officers. Family members mentioned that Edwards passed away while protecting her 1-year-old from the shooting.

Two of the injured children belong to Edward, while the 8-year-old is Strong’s child.
