According to the Chicago police, an 11-year-old boy was shot during a traffic incident on the Northwest Side on Friday morning. The event took place on the 1400 block of North Western Avenue at approximately 8:27 a.m. The boy, Tayveon Jackson, spoke to ABC7 after being discharged from the hospital on Friday night. Police reported that two cars were involved in a minor collision. Following the accident, the driver of one vehicle pulled out a gun and began shooting at the other driver when they attempted to exchange information.
Jackson, a passenger in the car, was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition after suffering a left-hand injury, according to the police. He and his family have returned home. This morning, the kid and his two brothers were traveling to school with his grandfather when a small-scale traffic incident escalated into a shooting.
The alleged shooter was captured on camera during the assault in screenshots taken from a nearby security camera. He will now be unable to engage in several of his favorite pastimes due to his ailments. Although the family is grateful that Jackson only had minor wounds, they are now hoping that the gunman will be taken into custody. The incident took place a short distance from a nearby school. The attack did not injure the boy’s siblings. The victim’s family is calling for an end to gun violence in Chicago while he recovers. According to authorities, the suspect left the scene and is not in custody. Detectives from Area Five are looking into it.
