Even though it has been more than two years since the rapper and fashion icon parted ways with the brand, the 47-year-old took a moment for introspection. Recently, West posted an extensive and articulate rant on Instagram, targeting Adidas and accusing the company of attempting to “hold him back” while revisiting their tumultuous relationship.
In his post, Kanye included a screenshot of a Google search for his well-known Yeezy brand, revealing that the Adidas site appeared above his YZY website. “Adidas members, please stop this,” West stated in the caption. “Cease your actions to hinder my progress. Our partnership is finished. You’re a $60 billion company that froze my accounts. Now that I’m back on my feet (no pun intended), I won’t tolerate this (no pun again).”
West reflected on his years of working with Adidas, underlining his significant contributions to the brand’s profitable Yeezy line. He indicated that Adidas had treated him poorly, largely due to his outspoken personality and his readiness to advocate for himself.
A sense of resentment drove West’s remarks. He felt that many who previously professed support for him did so merely for their benefit. “Now they’re outcast,” he proclaimed. Despite his ongoing dispute with Adidas, Kanye chose to emphasize the triumph of his YZY brand, asserting his independence.
This latest outburst follows Kanye’s unconventional Super Bowl advertisement in 2024, which he financed himself and filmed on his iPhone while being driven in a car. In his typical style, he humorously acknowledged that the high expense of the commercial meant there was no money left for production itself.
