Detroit rapper Skilla Baby has come forward to honor 13-year-old Na’Ziyah Harris, who has been missing since January 2024. In a heartfelt gesture, he has offered to cover the costs for a community celebration of her life, with the aim of providing closure and support to her family and the Detroit community.

According to CBS News, Na’Ziyah Harris was reported missing after she got off her school bus on January 9, 2024. Her adoptive mother and biological grandmother, Annette Harris, filed the missing person report on the same day. In Wayne County, Jarvis Butts, who is known to have dated Na’Ziyah’s aunt, is facing allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with the teenager. During a preliminary hearing, text messages that were allegedly exchanged between them were presented as evidence.

As Na’Ziyah’s story garnered attention online, rapper Skilla Baby voiced his demand for justice on her behalf. On Wednesday, January 15, the Detroit emcee posted a photo of Na’Ziyah on Instagram and announced that he would cover the expenses for the community to come together to honor her life.

According to CBS News, Jarvis Butts has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, and child sexually abusive activity. He is facing trial for the murder of Na’Ziyah Harris. Judge Aliyah Sabree has sent the case to the 3rd Circuit Court for trial, describing Butts as “the monster in this whole picture.”
