DJ Akademiks has allegedly been prohibited from Twitch due to his ongoing controversy about “grooming.” On Tuesday (Jan. 28), users observed that his well-known profile was no longer accessible on the platform. Instead, a message appears stating, “Sorry. Unless you’ve got a time machine, that content is unavailable,” when trying to visit the streamer’s page.
Following the update’s rise in popularity on social media, the Akademiks TV account offered a purported clarification regarding the situation, stating that the individual has been “temporarily suspended on Twitch for reaching out to Adin Ross (who is permanently banned from Twitch) during a stream to verify whether he contributed $10,000 to the parents of Kendrick Lamar’s cousin, who required hospital beds and a new wheelchair.”
The debate was ignited by a clip featuring Akademiks participating in a sexual conversation with a 15-year-old streamer named Nour. In the clip, the Off the Record host is heard saying to the teen, “You’re telling me there’s not another 15-year-old you could buss down?” among other inappropriate comments.
Following the widespread circulation of the footage, Akademiks spoke about his inappropriate behavior.“I’ve done a lot of bulls**t up in this game,” he said. “Trust me. I’ve got mine off—this issue aside – which, again. I am wrong. I will be better. This is a teachable moment. I got to watch my speech. That’s clear. […] a regrettable moment, and we will use it as a teachable moment. Because I don’t think I’ve come this far, built this platform, to be that irresponsible, right?”
Even though he admitted to his actions, his opponents were still unsatisfied and had much to express. Meek Mill encouraged parents to prevent their kids from watching Ak’s material.
