According to ABC 7 news, on Tuesday, February 11th, Mooresville Metropolitan Police received information from the FBI regarding a person who was potentially planning a shooting at Mooresville High School.

Trinity J. Shockley, 18, a student at Mooresville High School, was identified as the suspect. Shockley was arrested for conspiracy to commit murder, intimidation, and conspiracy to commit intimidation.
The FBI’s Sandy Hook Promise Say Something Anonymous Reporting System contacted the local sheriff. The caller reported their friend was planning an attack.

Police then executed a search warrant at Shockley’s home. During their investigation, police discovered the 18-year-old student had an obsession with Nicolas Cruz and Dylann Roof.
In 2018, Cruz murdered 17 people while injuring others in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Roof is known for the infamous Charleston Massacre, where nine people were gunned down in a racist attack at a South Carolina church.

According to court documents, “Trinity’s motivation for making the plan is Cruz. She wanted to prove that she is his number one fan. Trinity has an emotional attachment to Cruz,”.
Court records also revealed Trinity had received mental health counseling since her freshman year. She also expressed suicidal thoughts. Records also pointed out that her father denied her access to mental health resources.

“Each time Trinity would try to receive mental health assistance, her father, Timothy Shockley, would deny her access to the resources,” according to court records. “Mr. Shockley did not believe in mental health treatment and did not take his daughter’s condition seriously. On November 12th, 2024, two weeks after her 18th birthday, Trinity signed herself up for mental health assistance.”
ABC News tried to contact family members and Tim Shockley, Trinity’s father, for comment. No court date has been set.
