Former NBA player and two-time champion Craig Hodges is keeping it real about a tough chapter in his life—and he’s doing it with grace. In a recent resurfaced interview with VladTV, Hodges opened up about his ex-wife Carlita’s past affair with R&B singer R. Kelly. Instead of holding onto bitterness, the former Chicago Bulls sharpshooter says he’s at peace with the situation.
During the conversation, Hodges revealed that he actually used to be friends with R. Kelly and even helped him out during the early stages of his career. So when the affair happened, it hit close to home—but he’s learned to move forward.
“I accept it for what it is,” Hodges said. “I accept her for never apologizing… that to me is just one of the things in life that happens.”
What makes Hodges’ perspective stand out is the fact that he’s not letting the past define him. He even took a subtle jab at R. Kelly’s current situation, pointing out the irony of where life has taken both of them.
“From that standpoint, I wouldn’t want to be that brother for anything in the world… I’m sitting outside them bars,” Hodges added.
R. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and other crimes, as reported by ABC News.
At the end of the day, Hodges’ outlook is one of maturity, growth, and resilience. Instead of dragging anyone’s name through the mud, he’s choosing peace—and that’s a win in itself.
