Viral video is going around of ICE agents detaining people after arriving for a scheduled immigration related appointment.
ICE agents detained about a dozen people in Chicago during scheduled immigration check-ins at 2245 S. Michigan Avenue in the South Loop.
Immigration advocates and local officials, including Alderman Anthony Quezada, gathered outside in protest. They say the arrests violate Chicago’s sanctuary city policies, which limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
In the video, you can hear people yelling the immigrants to “go back” and that they don’t belong here while the family of those getting arrested were crying and saying their goodbyes.
