Over the weekend, Memphis rapper Finesse2Tymes had his car stolen in Chicago while filming a video shoot. According to reports, the young men who took the vehicle demanded a $20,000 ransom to return it.
On Monday, Chicago comedian Darrin Brownn—better known as Uncle Hank—revealed on social media that he and members of his neighborhood stepped in to help recover the car. Brownn stressed that extortion “ain’t how people in Chicago move,” making it clear the city doesn’t co-sign that type of play.
Finesse2Tymes also took to Instagram to share his own perspective, drawing a line between hustling and flat-out stealing:
“Where I come from, we respect TAKERS… STEALING ain’t no hustle. Ain’t no honor amongst thieves. That lil money don’t never last, and it come wit blood on it… Ain’t nobody never took nothing from me… Yes I have been stolen from behind my back, while I ain’t looking, but ain’t no man walk this earth ever strong arm Lil Ricky for shyt. That’s suicide.”
For now, the car is back in the rapper’s possession, thanks to Chicago community members who wanted to show the difference between clout moves and real respect.
